Minneapolis Foundation: Economic Response Fund

The Minneapolis Foundation has launched emergency economic response grants to support businesses experiencing material disruption.

What this fund supports:

  • Payroll and job retention

  • Worker continuity and emergency scheduling costs

  • Essential operating expenses

  • Stabilization support to prevent permanent closure

Priority is given to community-serving businesses whose stability directly protects workers and neighborhood services.

2. Proposed $5 Million City of Minneapolis Small Business Stabilization Program

Minneapolis City Council member, Jason Chavez,  has proposed a $5 million stabilization program aimed at supporting businesses impacted by recent economic disruptions.

If approved, this program would provide direct financial relief to qualifying small businesses across the city.

The first vote is scheduled for February 17, 2026.

3. Main Street Alliance Small Business Stabilization Fund

Main Street Alliance is launching a grassroots small business fund to support community-serving enterprises.

Timeline:

  • February: Fundraising phase

  • March: Applications open and reviewed on a rolling basis

  • March: Rapid distribution of funds

Funding is intended to:

  • Prevent layoffs

  • Maintain worker pay continuity

  • Cover essential operating expenses

  • Stabilize businesses at risk of closure
